SUMMARY:Trauma Informed Nutrition
DESCRIPTION:Join us for guest speaker Kristi Mollner\, Registered Dietician with the Maricopa Department of Public Health for an enlightening discussion on Trauma Informed Nutrition. \nFood can provide nourishment and joy. Food can also be a source of adversity and trauma such as with food insecurity and eating disorders. Children are especially at risk for experiencing food-related traumas. Over 1 in 4 Arizona children are considered food insecure. Further\, 95% of eating disorders are found in adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 25. Schools are in the position to recognize and respond to food-related trauma by approaching child nutrition through a trauma-informed lens. Kristi Mollner\, a registered dietitian nutritionist with Maricopa County Department of Public Health\, will provide an overview of food-related traumas\, as well as offer simple\, yet effective\, ways schools can cultivate positive and healing food environments. \nRegister in advance here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMudO6grT8iEtJUD5DYU8xLQ6j8tWHONcr2

SUMMARY:Dr Acosta- "Reimagining Trauma Through the Healing-Centered Paradigm"
DESCRIPTION:Drawing on extensive research and professional practice\, this interactive keynote invites participants into an exploration of how practitioners and scholars have deliberately integrated the notion of healing into K-12 curricula\, community health initiatives and professional education to support and go beyond focusing on trauma. With the many challenges and crises unfolding before us–ecological disequilibrium\, political polarization\, socio-economic inequality and health disparities–people who are interested in supporting others are challenged with how to take care of themselves\, those who they teach and the communities within which they work. Also\, the COVID-19 global pandemic has exacerbated the preexisting conditions that communities\, especially those who are most vulnerable\, have to contend with. This workshop provides a foundation for  integrating healing-centered education into one’s professional teaching and working philosophy in order to reimagine wellness and our perspective on trauma itself. \nRegister in advance for this meeting: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMtduiurT0qHN2DLnTBGkO7qxuMnagGibKh \nDr. Angel Acosta works to bridge the fields of leadership\, social justice\, and mindfulness. He is director of the Garrison\nInstitute’s Fellowship Program and creative director at the NYC Healing Collective\, a community initiative curating work and insights at the intersection of healing\, wellness\, and societal transformation. As a member of the 400 Years of Inequality Project\, he designed the Contemplating 400 Years of Inequality Experience to support communities in understanding structural inequality through a contemplative approach. \nAngel completed his doctorate degree in the curriculum and teaching department at Teachers College\, Columbia University. His research explored healing-centered education as a promising framework for educational leadership development and community care. For close to a decade\, he served as a program director for the national nonprofit CFES Brilliant Pathways. With a passion for helping young people to think globally and act locally\, he directed and taught at a global leadership study abroad program in Rome through the award-winning organization Leadership exCHANGE. After participating in the Mind and Life Institute’s Academy for Contemplative Leadership\, Angel began consulting and developing learning experiences that weave leadership development with conversations about inequality and healing to support educational leaders through contemplative and restorative practices. \nAngel is a proud first-generation Dominican-American and graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh. Lately\, he has become curious about the ways in which technology can be used as a force for advancing racial equity and dismantling structural inequality.

SUMMARY:Salutogenisis: The origins of health and how to promote resilience and wellbeing
DESCRIPTION:Salutogenisis: The origins of health and how to promote resilience and wellbeing \nPediatricians / pediatric providers are the go-to professional families turn to with concerns about their child’s health and well-being. Nearly 93% of children under age 18 years visit a medical provider annually and 68% of children seen in a pediatric health care setting have experienced traumatic or significant adverse events. Over the last 2 decades research has shown that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can lead to a cascade of negative health outcomes : developmental\, behavioral\, physical\, emotional and mental. The good news is pediatricians and pediatric healthcare providers have a unique opportunity to identify\, address and prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences. By having an appreciation and understanding  of the universal  human stress response and how the environment children are exposed to effects biology which ultimately drives behavior and development\, pediatricians / pediatric providers are perfectly positioned to impact current and future resilience and wellbeing of the children and teens they encounter. \nJoin us for our inaugural half day conference for medical professionals! CMEs included!! \nRegister for free at https://azacesorig.agencyinkwell.dev/summit2022

SUMMARY:ADHS ACEs Dashboard Discussion
DESCRIPTION:The Arizona Department of Health Services is working on a dashboard that shows the root causes of ACEs at the family\, community\, society\, and cultural levels that contribute to increasing childhood adversity among families and communities in Arizona. It would be great if we could hear insights from ACEs experts within our state (which means\, social workers\, healthcare professionals\, teachers\, community leaders\, and anyone who is working with Arizona families and communities with ACEs). During the meeting\, we would like to present the dashboard and then open up the discussion where participants can provide their feedback. Once the dashboard is complete\, it will be uploaded on the ADHS website and available to the public to increase the public understanding of ACEs in Arizona children.\n\nRegister here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEsf-6trDMuHNcba_pSR2tgtA05Gy2h5Q6J

SUMMARY:Maricopa SHIFT: Safe\, Healthy Infants and Families Thrive
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for this informative webinar on the Maricopa SHIFT initiative!!! Register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZcsf-yrrjgrHdcTizR4hHBCgX7Ve2FC2z2G \nWHAT: Maricopa SHIFT (Safe\, Healthy Infants and Families Thrive) is a new initiative\, aimed at improving cross-system collaboration in a non-stigmatizing\, trauma and infant mental health informed manner\, for pregnant women with a substance use disorder. The only two qualifiers for participation are (1)- a pregnant parent and (2)- with a substance use disorder (SUD) of any kind. Any other system involvement\, including an open DCS case or not\, does not affect eligibility. \nWHY: The national Opioid epidemic has impacted thousands of newborns throughout the U.S. Maricopa SHIFT aims at reducing the incidence of Substance Exposed Newborns (SEN)\, many of whom are affected by Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) after exposure to opioids and other substances in utero. It has been demonstrated that EARLY ENGAGEMENT IN COLLABORATIVE\, COMPASSIONATE SERVICES PRENATALLY\, can greatly improve the outcomes for these newborns and their families in a multitude of ways. \nWHO: Maricopa SHIFT is a collaboration of a variety of providers within Maricopa County for expectant parents affected by SUD.
