After 34 years of service to the State of Arizona, Bob officially retired in April. Arizona Governor Doug Ducey commended Bob for "creating a stronger, safer and healthier Arizona for all. The day before his retirement, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego proclaimed April 10 as Bob Shogren Day, for "weaving the ethos of service into the fabric of public life across Arizona and for his unequivocal commitment to bringing more people to the table to solve difficult issues." In June Bob was recognized by Public Allies Arizona with the Honorary Ally Award for exemplifying all Public Allies Six Core Values: Diversity & Inclusion, Integrity, Focus on Assets, Collaboration, Continuous Learning and Innovation.
